This is wonderful because as simple as it sounds, myself and MANY women I know simply don’t eat breakfast at all or with any lasting frequency! It’s insane yet understandable with our rushed mornings, children and life taking precedence over nourishing ourselves. We’d never send a child to school without breakfast but yet we don’t deem our bodies important enough to fuel and fuel well! It needs to change, especially since most of the research coming out shows that women who intermittent fast (paired with a very stressful go-go-go kind of morning) are setting themselves up for a nervous system, hormonal, blood sugar disaster. Women aren’t small men!

Absolutely, it affects reproductive health, bone health and overall wellbeing...Plus most of us are under so much strain that we don't have the capacity to absorb another dose of cortisol.

Unfortunately, much of the popularity around fasting for women came down to weight loss (although even that science is now under question), which again puts us at the mercy of diet culture. I also find that skipping breakfast, intentionally or otherwise, can become a very slippery slope into disordered eating patterns as it teaches restriction, delayed nourishment and the ongoing obsession of the next meal.

I know that you're so well versed in this area and would love the share some of your insights this month — this is exactly the kind of collaborative conversation I'm excited to have!
